Thomas Michael Collins was born Nov. 16, 1943 on the family farm in Hartford. He was the son of George and Eleanor (Baird) Collins. Thomas passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2023.
Tom, as he was known, served his country in the United States Army. He was a semi-truck driver by trade. He was formerly employed at the Watervliet Paper Mill, and retired as an independent semi-truck driver. In his spare time, Tom enjoyed farming, watching old western movies, and especially talking with his friends; however, most of all he loved spending time with his family.
Tom was preceded in passing by a son, Timothy Collins; his parents; and a brother, Ward Collins.
Tom leaves behind to cherish his memory: a daughter, Tammy (Dennis) Graham; two grandchildren, Robert (Morgan) Graham and Derek Graham; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Dale Collins; and a sister, Sarita Collins.
The family will welcome friends on Saturday, Sept. 2, from 1 to 2 p.m., at the Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford, followed at 2 p.m., by a Celebration of Life Service. Pastor Lonnie Truelove will officiate. Tom will be laid to rest in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hartford, with military rites performed by the North Berrien Military Rites Team. The family has requested that instead of sending flowers, any donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
