He loved umpiring at the baseball Little League tournaments, and looked forward to it every year. He loved making memories with his grandchildren and valued the Native American culture and traditional ways. He also helped raise his grandson, Inteus and was his father figure. In his spare time, he loved to go to the casino, play poker and restore automobiles.

Terry married Adeline (Lewis) Dixon on April 2, 1988, and she survives, along with four children: Mike Lewis, Melody Dixon and Misty (Robert) Ledesma, all of Hartford, and Terry Jr. (Esther) Dixon of Moorhead, Minn.; nine grandchildren: Robert Jr., Elijah, Raven, Maddie, Inteus, Angel, Michael, Jameson and Micah; his father, Elmer (Peggy) Dixon of Dickson, Tenn.; four sisters; and eight brothers.
