Terry Dixon Obituary

Terry Ray Dixon, 62, of Hartford passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at Lakeland Medical Center, St. Joseph.

Terry was born on Oct. 3, 1958, in Benton Harbor the son of Elmer and Norma (Racine) Dixon. He was formerly employed with Pullman Industries in South Haven.

Terry was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He was loved by many, and always willing to help others. He was a diehard Lions fan and a fan of any Michigan sports team. He enjoyed watching football and baseball, but enjoyed watching his grandchildren play football, baseball, basketball, soccer, volleyball and softball. He was a Little League coach for his children and grandchildren, and ran a Little League program in Benton Heights. He was passionate about being a licensed high school official, and for 36 years, he enjoyed officiating football, baseball, softball, and volleyball. He loved umpiring at the baseball Little League tournaments, and looked forward to it every year. He loved making memories with his grandchildren and valued the Native American culture and traditional ways. He also helped raise his grandson, Inteus and was his father figure. In his spare time, he loved to go to the casino, play poker and restore automobiles.

Terry married Adeline (Lewis) Dixon on April 2, 1988, and she survives, along with four children: Mike Lewis, Melody Dixon and Misty (Robert) Ledesma, all of Hartford, and Terry Jr. (Esther) Dixon of Moorhead, Minn.; nine grandchildren: Robert Jr., Elijah, Raven, Maddie, Inteus, Angel, Michael, Jameson and Micah; his father, Elmer (Peggy) Dixon of Dickson, Tenn.; four sisters; and eight brothers.

Terry is preceded in passing by his mother, Norma Jean; and grandparents: Louis and Charlotte Racine.
