Shirlene Manning

Shirlene Manning, 75 of Hartford went to her heavenly home Sunday, March 24, 2013, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, Saint Joseph.

Shirlene was born Dec. 3, 1937, in New Madrid, Mo., the daughter of Milton and Lillian (Robbins) Hill, both of whom precede her in passing. Also preceding her in passing was a granddaughter, Kendra Michael.

Her most important love was the time she spent with her family, which includes her husband, Kenneth, whom she married Aug. 30, 1954; a daughter, Rebecca (Jack) Traughber of Hartford; two sons, Mike (Terri) Manning of Sawyer and Mark (Cheryl) Manning of Fancy Gap, Va.; six grandchildren, Jeff, Tabitha, Joshua, Melissa, Benjamin and Julie; 11 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Sam (Barbara) Hill of Cuba, Mo.

Shirlene was deeply devoted to the Lord. She became a Christian at a young age. She was the co-founder, along with her husband, Kenneth, of the Hartford Church of God 38 years ago. She was a devoted and loyal member of that ministry and loved singing. She was a devoted and loving mother to her family and was like a mother to many people throughout her life.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, at the Hartford Church of God, where the service to honor her memory will commence at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 28. Pastors Kenneth and Mark Manning will officiate. Shirlene will be laid to rest in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hartford, where Pastor Eric Jackson will deliver remarks. Memorial donations in Shirlene's name may be made to the church's building fund or Gidean's International. The family has entrusted the Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford, with arrangements.
