Sharyn Michal Robbins-Kuempel, 78, formerly of Hartford passed away peacefully after a long illness on Thursday, March 25, 2021, at her home in Bridgman.
Sharyn was born on Oct. 30, 1942, in Watervliet, the daughter of Barney and Louthelle (Heaton) Keech, both deceased. Preceding her in passing were her first husband, Richard Cecil Robbins; two brothers: James (Ruth) Keech and Richard (Barbara) Keech; and a sister, LuAn (Nick) Korsak.
Sharyn was formerly employed with Hartford Public Schools as a teacher’s aide and middle school secretary where she made hundreds of cherished lifelong connections with students, co-workers, and the community. Retiring in 2005, she was awarded the distinction of being Hartford’s Citizen Of The Year.
Sharyn is survived by her second husband, Kenneth Kuempel of Bridgman; her daughter, Lisa (Tim) Morrow of Sawyer; her son, Richard Robbins of Benton Harbor; a granddaughter, Jayme Woodward of Bridgman; and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her stepsons: Kurt (Marcia) Kuempel of Allendale and John (Crystal) Kuempel of Howell; and eight step-grandchildren.
The family will welcome friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 1 at the Calvin Funeral Home in Hartford. A private burial ceremony will take place on Saturday, April 3, at Maple Hill Cemetery, Hartford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her name may be made to the Marie Yeager Cancer Center, which held a special place in her heart for the support and care she received, or the American Cancer Society.
