Jimmy Joe Madison Sr., 72, passed away unexpectedly on June 7, 2021, in his home in Benton Harbor.


Jim was born on April 4, 1949, in Arkansas to parents: Hersel Harrison Madison and Lillie Pearl Cheatham-Madison who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death are brothers: Hersel Berneill Madison, Albert Wayne Madison, Donnie Ray Madison and Earless Gene Madison; along with sister, Wanda Erlene Madison.


Jim is survived by, Judy Madison, who has been by his side for many years along with her three children, and five grandchildren. Jim is survived by his sister, Pearl Bernice Madison-Lightner who is the first of the siblings. Jim had three loving children: Jimmy Joe Madison Jr., Kathy Lynn Madison, and Stacey Renee Madison-Watkins. He was blessed with six grandchildren: Chad Madison, Amy Madison, Chastity Watkins-Laws, Ronnie J Watkins, Samantha Hopkins, and Dylan Madison. Jim was gifted with five great-grandchildren. Jim is also survived by Judy's children: Timmy Madison, Jon Madison and April Madison who have been major persons in his life. Jim had also watched Jon’s son Jadyn and April's kids, Devin, Skyler, Aydin, and Lyllianna grow up.


Jim enjoyed watching his western and war shows, listening to country music and spending his time at the flea market on the weekends. He took pride in his motorcycles and collecting guns. He was dedicated to being a hard worker for Hoffmann Die Cast in St. Joseph MI for many years and keeping busy around the house. In his retirement years he loved relaxing, drinking his coffee and being with his animals who were always glued to his hip. Jim was a loving person and always loved joking around.


Please join us at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 19, at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hartford, for a ceremony to lay him to rest. The family has entrusted the Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford, with arrangements.
