Elvira Rush Obituary


Elvira Mae Rush, of St. Joseph, formerly of Hartford was born on May 8, 1920, in Chicago, the daughter of Milo and Lilli (Steimle) Schieber.


Elvira passed away on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2023, at the Caretel Inn of Lakeland, at the age of 102.


On Oct. 26, 1940, Elvira was united in marriage with Robert Rush. They had a cattle farm in Hartford and it was active until Robert’s passing on Feb. 5, 1993. During that time they raised three sons who survive.


Elvira is survived by her three sons: Jerry (Sharon) Rush of Coloma, James (Peggy) Rush of Hartford and David (Kathleen) Rush of Berrien Springs; three grandsons; one granddaughter; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and six cousins. Elvira was preceded in passing by her husband, Robert; her parents; a sister, Marian Robinson; and a brother, Robert E. Schieber.


As to Elvira’s wishes cremation has taken place and no public services will be held. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Hartford United Methodist Church.
