Carol King Obituary

Carol Sue King, 79, passed away Monday, Aug. 3, 2020, at River Ridge Retirement Village in South Haven. Carol was born March 5, 1941 in Watervliet. She is the daughter of Carl and Florence (Shingledecker) McNees. Carol was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

On May 12, 1962, Carol was united in marriage with Lucius King. She had two children: Clinton and Cindy, and two grandchildren, Megan and Emily. She retired from 5th Third Bank after 25 years of service.

In her spare time, Carol loved to spend time with her husband of 58 years and her family. She enjoyed gardening, taking care of her family and spoiling her grand dogs. She cherished the time she spent participating in community parades, as a member of the parade crew for Vassar Farms Antique Tractors.

The King family would like to give a special thank you to the kind and generous staff at River Ridge Retirement Village in South Haven. They provided loving care to Carol during her stay, as well as warm support to her family.

Surviving family members include her husband, Lucius; their two children: Clint (Jan) King of Watervliet and Cindy (Chris) Rush of Lake Orion, two grandchildren: Megan and Emily Rush. Also surviving are special cousins: Donna Bench (Yirchott) and Jeff Tanner; sister and brother-in-law Sandy (King) and Norm Bailey and several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Preceding Carol’s passing were her parents, two brothers Donald and Jerry McNees, and sister and brother-in-law Joanne (King) and Dale Jones.

In accordance with Carol’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate Carol’s life is being planned. Family and friends will be informed directly, as soon as the details are finalized. In lieu of flowers, the family would like any memorial donations to be sent to either Caring Circle of South Haven (www.caring-circle.org) or Dementia Society of America (www.dementiasociety.org).
