Obituary


Bernice was born on Sept. 3, 1928, to Virgil and Mildred (Hiler) Matrau of Bainbridge Township. She was a lifetime area resident and graduated from Watervliet High School. Bernice was the founder and owner of Rudell Real Estate and the president of the Southwestern Michigan Board of Realtors.


Bernice had a love of antiques and was an avid collector. She also enjoyed genealogy, traveling, card games and spending time with her great-grandchildren.


Bernice is survived by her son, Greg Rudell of Watervliet; two grandchildren: Joe (Jennifer) Rudell, and Lynn (Scott) Summers, both of Watervliet; seven great-grandchildren: John, Julie, Lyvia, Lilly, Jessica, Jane and Lucy; and her sister. Betty Brusveen of Jenison, Mich. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie; sons: William and Robert, and daughter-in-law, Jennifer.


Bernice died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2022, at her home. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place. A visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 31, at Calvin Funeral Home. Those wishing to leave memorial condolences for the family may do so at http://www.calvin-leonardfh.com.
