Born on April 19, 1933, to William and Jessie Wade, Wilma grew up in a large and close-knit family that taught her the importance of love, hard work, and compassion. On March 26, 1970, she married Grady Hunt, and together they built a life full of laughter, devotion and deep family bonds.
Wilma was a proud and loving mother to her children: Marilyn Ann Brown (Mancell), Michael James Mancell (Amalia), Susan Adams (Cook) and husband Tim Adams, Billy Cook (Beverly), Joseph Lee Hunt, Kevin Hunt, David Lee Hunt, and April Allene Hunt. Her greatest joy came from her family, which grew to include 28 grandchildren and more than 60 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, each one holding a special place in her heart.
One of eleven siblings, Wilma is survived by her sisters: Alma Hunt, Bessie Williams and Eva Brown. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Pauline Wade, J.T. Wade, Ruth Whitlock, Bob Wade, John Wade, Robert Wade, Ray Wade and Geneva Barefoot.
Wilma was the heart of her family and a friend to everyone she met. With a gift for always seeing the good in all people, Wilma believed in second chances. She was known for her kindness, generosity, and her ability to make everyone feel valued. Her home was always open, her table always full, and her heart always welcoming. She taught those around her what it truly means to love without conditions.
Wilma faced life’s challenges with quiet courage and grace. Her strength and character were unmatched and was truly a woman to be modeled after — firm in her beliefs, steadfast in her love and overflowing with kindness.
Wilma will be remembered as a woman of integrity, warmth and wisdom — someone who gave freely of herself and made the world brighter for everyone blessed enough to know her. Finding beauty and joy in life’s simplest moments and sharing that beauty with all who knew her was nothing less than remarkable and inspiring. Her legacy of faith, love and strength will continue to inspire generations to come.
