Vera Janice Wade

Vera Janice Wade was born Aug. 15, 1940, in St. Louis, the daughter of Albert and Pearl Meyer. Vera passed away suddenly on Monday, Jan. 7, 2019, in Louisville, Ky.

Vera took up residency in Hartford with her husband, Robert Lee Wade Sr., and was formerly employed as an aid at ALPHA Christian Healthcare of Saint Joseph. In her spare time she loved to travel, but most of all, spending time with her family was her greatest joy.

Vera is survived by her children: Robert (Marie) Wade of Tennessee, Susan (Bryant) Baham of Hartford, Ruthie (William) Baham of Dowagiac, James (Tina) Wade of Arkansas, Tina (Robert) Hernandez of Tennessee and Kim (Chad) Gillaspy of Hartford. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Vera was preceded in passing by her husband, Robert on March 20, 2016; her parents; two sisters and a brother.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, at the Calvin Funeral Home in Hartford, where a celebration of life service to honor Vera’s memory will be held at noon on Monday, Jan. 14. Her son, Pastor James Wade, will officiate. Vera will be laid to rest in Maple Hill Cemetery in Hartford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Vera’s name may be made to the family.
