Theresa Sue Sturgeon

Theresa Sue Sturgeon, of Benton Harbor, passed away suddenly at her home on Friday, June 20, 2025, at the age of 75.

Theresa was born Oct. 7, 1949, in Judsonia, Ark., the daughter of Leo and Frances (Selvidge) Ferren.

Theresa was formerly employed, as a Nursing Assistant, at the former Berrien General Hospital and at Lakeland Hospital, in Saint Joseph, where she lovingly cared for the new born babies. Her most precious times were spent with her family and especially her dog, Josie. Theresa had a big heart, taking in and caring for family and friends alike. Everyone called her “Mom”.

The family will welcome friends, from 11 a.m. to noon, on Thursday, June 26, at the Calvin Funeral Home in Hartford, where at noon, a Celebration of Theresa’s life will be held. Kevin Daugherty will officiate. Theresa will be laid to rest next to her son in Millburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Theresa’s name may be made to the Humane Society of Southwestern Michigan, Saint Joseph, Mich. On May 27, 1967, Theresa was united in marriage with Ronald Sturgeon and he survives, along with their daughter, Dana Sturgeon (Gerhard Binder); a grandson, Holden Day (Matthew Villa); a granddaughter, Sierra (Andrew) Plantinga; a step-son, Aaron (Lisa) Schroeder; and a sister, Arveta Ramsey.

Theresa was preceded in passing by a son, Ronald Sturgeon Jr.; her parents; and a sister, Reva Page.
