Terry Lee Mabus

February 8, 1946 — August 4, 2025

Terry Lee Mabus, of Watervliet, Mich., passed away on Monday, Aug. 4th, at the age of 79. He was beloved husband of Reba Dianne Mabus, loved son of the late Harry Mabus and late Virginia Mabus, and devoted father of Michelle Caracci (the late Joe), Penny Robley, Brian Mabus (Charlotte) and Lonnie Mabus (Erin).

He loved his “outlaw” sons-in-law and daughters-in-laws, Joe, Tim, Charlotte and Erin, as one of his own. Their death or divorce never changed that in his heart.

He was a cherished grandfather of Amanda Starke (Joe), Travis Robley, Ali Mabus, Hannah Thompson (Billy), Jon Mabus, Brennan Mabus, Anthony Mabus, Lexi Robley, Jamie Valdez (Bobby), Amelie Kempel, Mandy Caracci (Chris), and Tyler Robley.

Loving great grandfather to Olive Valdez, Addie Valdez, Averie Thompson, Kennedy Starke, Baker Thompson, Savannah Starke and Nate Starke.

Dear brother of Pamela Dodson (the late Phil), the late Patricia Wilson (the late Carl), Jim Harrell, and Carol Anderson (the late Marty).

Loved uncle to many nieces and nephews, and he loved his cousins, thinking of them as friends.

There wasn’t a person he met that he didn’t try to welcome as a friend.

Terry was a HVAC technician for over 35 years and worked many of those years with his sons, Brian and Lonnie. He worked as a minister at Calvary Pentecostal Church. He loved his church family. Bro. Micky Roettgen was Terry’s best friend, confidant, and Pastor while living in St. Louis. The geographical distance did not hinder their brothership. Bro. Jim Stone was a convert under Terry’s ministry, and a special friend. He pastors now in Illinois with Beano, Terry and Dianne’s unofficially adopted daughter. His buddies, Bro. Dave and Bro. Trent went with Terry weekly on Saturdays to morning prayer and breakfast (sometimes even joined by his son-in-law, Joe). He enjoyed his fellowship with all of the church congregation and looked forward to every service.

He loved the St. Louis Cardinals, initially attending games with Brian, Lonnie and Joe, woodworking and playing games with his family. Phase 10 was the last game he played. His latest obsessions were collecting sports cards and golf, which he had been playing often in recent weeks. He has authored many books and actually just finished his latest one, all derived from his Bible studies.

Terry’s greatest joy was his family. He recently made a comment that he married a pretty hot woman. He really loved Dianne, and he was so very loved by all.

In lieu of flowers, Terry would have wanted to upgrade technology at his church, so we ask that memorials be made in his name and sent to his son, Brian Mabus at either Venmo @Brian-Mabus or mail to Brian Mabus, 113 Tree Ridge Dr., Columbia, Ill. 62236. Brian and Lonnie, the family tech wizards will implement the technology in Terry’s honor.

Visitation will be held at Calvary Pentecostal Church, Hartford, Mich., on Thursday, Aug. 7 from 10-11:00am. Funeral service will be held at 11:00am with burial afterwards at Fairview Memorial Cemetery. Immediately following the burial, a celebration luncheon will be held at Whispieria Woods Event Center at 9567 N Clay Dr., Watervliet, Mich. The family has entrusted the Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford, with arrangements. Those wishing to leave condolences for the family may do so at http://www.calvin-leonardfh.com.
