Sandra Lynne Mendoza

Sandra Lynne Mendoza, 64, of Hartford passed away Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2025, at home.

Sandy, as she was known, was born July 1, 1961, in St. Joseph, the daughter of Robert and Marian (Momany) Sells, both of whom preceded her in passing. Also preceding her in passing are a brother, Vic Sells; niece, Venessa Garcia; father-in-law, Ben Mendoza; two brothers-in-law: John Winkel and John Lavanway; and sister-in-law, Tammy Mendoza.

Sandy retired from Corewell Health Hospitals.

Sandy is survived by her husband, Ben Mendoza Jr.; a daughter, Alyssa (Jerry) Capovilla; a son, Ben Mendoza III; four granddaughters: Alivia, Allison, Claire, and Amelia; brothers and sisters: Nancy (Jerry) Scoma, Cherie (Laurel) Green, Steve (Denise) Sells, Lewie (Jan) Sells, Judy (Oscar) Smith, Allen (Judy) Sells, Joyce Sells, Diane (Vince) Garcia, Ramon Mendoza, Johnney Mendoza, Paul (Delphina) Mendoza, Blas Mendoza, Rosa Mendoza-Winkel and Anita Lavanway; mother-in-law, Aurelia; and a son-in-law, Jerry.

The family will welcome friends from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 9, at the Full Gospel Assembly Church, Hartford, where the service to celebrate her memory will commence at 11 a.m., with Pastor Shannon Truelove officiating. Private burial will follow in Fairview Memorial Cemetery. Donations in Sandra’s name may be made to the church. The family has entrusted Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford, with arrangements.
