Robert Newton Stover, 90, of Decatur, was born on Oct. 24, 1934 in Decatur, the son of William (Byron) and Pauline (Price) Stover. Robert passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2025, at Centrica Rose Arbor Place in Oshtemo Township.
On Nov. 26, 1955, Bob, as he was known by all, was united in marriage with Gladys Urick and she survives along with their two daughters: Cathy (David) Wood of Grand Rapids, and Laurie Stover of Portage. He is survived by a granddaughter, Amy Wood of Canton, Mich., and his brother, Bill (Joyce) Stover of Paw Paw, Mich. He will also be missed by his beloved dog, Annie, and his beloved cat, Willow.
Bob was preceded in passing by both parents; and two sisters, Patricia Cottrell and Joyce Vliek.
Bob was a self employed construction worker and farmer. He loved tinkering with his tractors, trucks and hit-and-miss engines. You could also find him doing wood carving, whittling or drawing to relax. One of his favorite things to do with Gladys was to jump in the car on Sunday's and drive the countryside looking for treasures along the way.
As to Bob’s wishes cremation has taken place and no services will be held. The Calvin Funeral Home in Hartford is assisting the family with arrangements. Those wishing to leave memorial condolences for the family may do so at http://www.calvin-leonardfh.com.
