Robert Ernest Cheek, 65, of Watervliet was born on June 1, 1953, in Osceola, Ark., to Ernest and Theodora (Noles) Cheek. He passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2019, at his home. His parents and a sister, Roxy McCrary, precede him in passing.
On Sept. 7, 1991, Robert was united in marriage with Phyllis Easley, and she survives, along with their children: Jennifer (Jonathan) Russell of Covert, Michelle Latham, Emily (Richard) Hacker and Robert (Susan) Cheek, all of Coloma and Doss (Melody) Cheek of Lawrence. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; and three siblings: Arthur Cheek of Centralia, Ill., Junior (Nancy) Cheek of Hartford and Ernestine (Jim) McFadden of Allegan.
Robert was a licensed contractor working with his two sons doing all kinds of construction work. In his spare time, he spent many days going to auctions where the family never knew what he might come home with. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and just loved to travel.
The family will welcome friends from 10 a.m.-noon on Wednesday, April 24, at the New Hope Community Church in Watervliet, where a celebration of life service to honor Robert's memory will commence at noon. His son, Pastor Robert Cheek, will officiate. Robert will be laid to rest in Fish Cemetery, Covert. In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial donations in Robert's name be made to the church.
