Richard Laurence Kroeg

November 27, 1929 — January 16, 2018

Richard Laurence Kroeg, 88, of Lawrence passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, at Eaton Community Palliative Care in Charlotte, Mich.

Dick, as he was known by most, was born Nov. 27, 1929, in Detroit, the son of John and Katherine (Stein) Kroeg, both of whom preceded him in passing.

Dick married the former Tiney Rininger on June 5, 1955, and for 60 years, they enjoyed each others love and devotion, until Tiney's passing on Oct. 6, 2015. Dick was the owner of Dick's Barber Shop in Lawrence for many years, until he retired a few years ago. Dick was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and was a lifetime member of the Hess-Eastman Post 174 of Lawrence. Dick always enjoyed the hunting trips with his friends.

Dick is survived by a son, Rick (Cheryl) Kroeg and their son, Travis of Charlotte, Mich.; a brother, Elmer Kroeg of Paw Paw; a sister, Janice Wilson of Galesburg, Mich.; and several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. His brother, Robert Kroeg; and sister, Margaret Kuk; preceded him in death.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 20, at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Paw Paw, where the service to honor his memory will commence at noon. The Rev. Eric Gledhill will officiate. As to Dick's wishes, cremation will follow the service. He and his wife will be placed together and buried in Hill Cemetery in Lawrence at a later date. Memorial donations in Dick's name may be made to either the American Cancer Society, to the church or to the Hess-Eastman Post 174.
