Merle Joyce Main

Merle Joyce Main was born Dec, 16, 1933, in Kennett, Mo. She was born the daughter of Lonnie and Frankie (Sifford) Jones. Merle passed away suddenly at Lakeland Medical Center, St. Joseph on Wednesday, June 26, 2019.

Merle worked as a caregiver for scores of people that needed help. In her spare time, she loved working out in the yard, camping and fishing. But her most important times were spent with family, especially taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Merle is survived by three sons: John (Marian) Main of Lawrence, William (Sandy) Main of Kurville, Texas, and Bruce Main of Hartford; two granddaughters: Teresa (John) Koeler and Angie (Dave) Roose; two grandsons: Jason Main and Jeff Main; two great-grandchildren: Owen and Ethan Roose; a brother, Gail Oldham, and sister, Jerris Specht.

Merle is preceded in passing by her parents, and two brothers: Wayne Jones, and Charles Oldham.

The family will welcome friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Monday, July 1, at the Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford, where the service to honor her memory will commence at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 2. Brian Lightner will officiate. Following the services, cremation will take place. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Merle's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
