Mary Jean McAbee-Stacks-Maleski, 87, of Eau Claire passed away to her heavenly home, on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, at her home.
Mary was born on Aug. 3, 1938, in Tunica, Miss., the daughter of Elbert and Agnes (Terry) McAbee.
Mary lived in the Bangor area for over 40 years. On April 15, 2002, she was united in marriage with Henry Maleski. She was formerly employed and retired from Bohn Aluminum in South Haven. After retirement, she did foster parenting until 2002. She was a grandmother volunteer at school, she attended a church in Dowagiac and the Church Keeler. She loved Jesus and loved helping children.
Mary leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband, Henry; her daughter, Sandra Cates; an adopted daughter, Jessica Lafond; five grandchildren: Keith Adams, Michael Hunt, Joshua Hunt, Michele Modro and Donald Daugherty; seven great-granddaughters; one great-grandson; and two adopted grandsons. She is also survived by a brother, Richard McAbee.
Mary was preceded in passing by three children: Rebecca Stacks, Pamela Stacks and Abel Stacks; her parents and six siblings: Elizabeth McAbee-Mathis, James McAbee, Clyde McAbee, Robert McAbee, Elbert McAbee and Gerald McAbee.
The family will welcome friends from 3-5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, at the Calvin Funeral Home in Hartford, where the service to honor her memory will commence at 5 p.m., with Pastor Jesse Maya officiating. Following the service, cremation will take place. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family.
