Mary G. Bassett

Mary G. Bassett was born July 23, 1963, in Watervliet. She passed away at the age of 54, on Oct. 17, 2017, at her home in Lawrence Township. She was the daughter of Everett and Fay Bassett, both of whom preceded her in passing. Also preceding her in passing was a daughter, Christina Johnson; a sister, Jorene Getz; and a niece, Jessica Sikes.

A memorial celebration of life service to honor Mary's memory will take place at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, at the Word of Life Faith Center in Lawrence. The Rev. Larry Potts will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family. The Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford, is assisting the family. Mary is survived by her children: Lena Nicole Johnson, James E.C. Johnson and Monawar Jones; six grandchildren: Olivia Jones-Rickett, Desirae Johnson, Xavier Jones-Rickett, Elijah Jenkins-Rickett, Brian Jenkins-Rickett and another granddaughter, the love of her life, Terry Johnson; a brother, Steven Bassett; two sisters, Rhonda Bassett and Sally (Joe) Blevins-Hunt; and many nieces and nephews.
