Maria Castro

Maria Castro, 61, of Hartford passed away Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017, at Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo.

Maria was born Nov. 14, 1955, in Rio Bravo, Mexico, the daughter of Santiago Galaviz and Felicitas Martinez.

Maria is survived by her five children: Jose L. Galaviz, Juan C. Galaviz and Joel A. (Gloria) Galaviz, all of Rio Bravo, Frankie (Belinda) Galaviz of Holland and Freddy Cavazos of Grand Rapids; her father, Santiago Galaviz of Hartford; siblings: Juan Galaviz of Hartford, Santiago Galaviz Jr. of Grand Rapids, Maria G. Longoria of Hartford, Benjamin Galaviz of Grand Rapids, Maria C. Espinoza of Hartford, Janie Sales of Niles, and Javier Galaviz of Hartford; 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Maria is preceded in passing by her mother, Felicitas Galaviz-Martinez.

The family will welcome friends 9-11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 18, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian burial celebration will take place at 11 a.m. with the Rev. German Perez-Diaz as celebrant. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hartford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Maria's name may be made to the family.
