Lorenzo Romero, Sr.

June 25, 1963 — May 5, 2019


Lorenzo Romero, of Hartford, was born June 25, 1963, in Edinburg, Texas. He was one of eight children born to Manuel and Oralia (Garza) Romero. Lorenzo passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2019, at Lakeland Medical Center in St. Joseph.


The family will welcome friends from 10 a.m.-noon Thursday, May 9, at the Hartford United Methodist Church, where a celebration of life service will be held at noon. Pastor Ryan Wenburg will officiate. Cremation will follow the service. The Calvin Funeral Home in Hartford is helping the family with arrangements. Memorial condolences for the family can be left on our website at http://www.calvin-leonardfh.com. There will also be a potluck celebration of life at 3 p.m. at the American Legion located in Coloma.


Lorenzo was known as Momma's Boy. He was formerly employed at I.C.G. for 30 years. In his spare time he loved playing pool, fishing and gardening. Lorenzo had a big heart and was always there for anyone that needed it. He was always the life of the party, making everyone laugh and making sure everyone had a good time.


On Feb. 6, 2016, Lorenzo married the former Elizabeth Kish, and she survives. He also leaves behind to cherish his memory, children: Krissy (Troy) Eaves and Lorenzo (Taris) Romero Jr., both of Coloma, Manda Romero of Coloma, Selenia (Macario) Martinez of South Bend, Tiffany (Matt) Briggs of Dowagiac, Ryan Martin, Gerald (Taylor) Payne of Dowagiac, Kemberly Payne of Hartford, Helen Guillaron of Hartford and Alexandria Guillaron of Hartford; grandchildren: Lillian Eaves, Oryhn Cook, Emiliano and Elianna Martinez, William and Hayley Briggs and Greyson Payne, with one more on the way; his siblings: Graciela (Alfonzo) Romero Chavez of Hartford, Gerardo (Luisa) Romero of Maryland, Aldo Romero, Rodolfo (Crystal) Romero of Coloma; and many more nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.


His parents precede him in passing, along with sisters, Diana Romero Castillo and Leticia Romero Aranda; and a brother, Juan M. Romero.
