Lonnie Johnson

Lonnie Johnson was born Oct. 4, 1948, in Caruthersville, Mo., one of five children born to Vester and Eva (Lovins) Johnson. Lonnie passed away at Elkhart (Ind.) General Hospital on Friday, Nov. 7, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: L.C. Morgan, Vester Johnson Jr. and Ronnie Johnson; and a sister; Lucille Burton.

The family will welcome friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford, where a service to honor his memory will commence at 7:30 p.m. Following the services, cremation will take place. Lonnie is survived by four children: Lonnie Joe Johnson of Niles; Van (Lisa) Johnson and Jason (Sarah) Johnson, both of Dowagiac; and Cheryl (Brian) Sullender of Elkhart, Ind.; two stepchildren, Carolyn (William) Johnson of Trumann, Ark., and Jesse (Kati) Howell of Watervliet, 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and his girlfriend, Betty Taylor of Niles.
