Joseph Lawrence Morsaw

June 17, 1960 — April 7, 2026

Joseph (Joe) Morsaw, 65, of Cassopolis and formerly of Hartford, passed away surrounded by his family on April 7, 2026, at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, Mich.

He was born on June 17, 1960, in Watervliet, Mich., to Cardinal (Joe) and Donna Morsaw, who both precede him in death. He was a member of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians. He was a 1978 Hartford High School graduate.

Joe also worked for a couple of places including Bangor Cooler in Hartford, Duwells of Hartford and Bellinghams/Hansons Cold Storage of Hartford. Joe was also part of the Keeler Keg and Kitchen softball team – his love of sports and racing is something he loved to do and watch.

Around 1990, he became totally disabled because of his back which turned his focus on doing the things he loved with his kids and coach them through their younger years of summer ball. Being down at the ball park was something he loved and continued to do through coaching and also becoming head umpire.

Joe was always the life of the party – always making jokes and making people laugh. Joe is survived by the love of his life Charlotte, whom he married Nov. 7, 1981, making it 44 years of marriage where they had four amazing kids: Tiffany Lowe (Harold) of Lawrence, Mich., Stephanie Morsaw of Berrien County, Joseph (Joey) Morsaw of Cassopolis, and Adam Morsaw of Cassopolis.

His grandkids that were his whole world included Chloe Lowe (Zarron), Aiden Lowe, Chandler Morsaw, Adriannah Oliver; and their three grandkids they adopted and raised the last 10 years: Noah Morsaw, Blake Morsaw, Mattie Morsaw and also his great-grandson due in June and his great-grandson, Kasen.

He is also survived by his siblings: Alan (Cindy) Morsaw, Greg (Chris) Morsaw and Barbara Burfield; brother-in-law, Cecil (Joyce) Joyner; brother-in-law, Larry (Susan) Joyner; sister-in-law, Connie (Dave) Lamplot; and his lifelong childhood friends Jeff Brown and Tim Montgomery, along with many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Cardinal (Joe) and Donna Morsaw; his grandson, Ethan Nelson; his sister, Pam McGlothlin; his father and mother-in-law, George and Lorine Joyner; his brother-in-law, Michael Joyner; and his lifelong childhood friend, John Winkle.
