John Charles Mehlenbeck

John Charles Mehlenbeck, 73, of Buchanan passed away on May 18th, 2025, at Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital, in Grand Rapids, Mich.

John was born in Chicago, on Jan. 15, 1952. His parents were Robert V. and Emma Ruth Mehlenbeck.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Maeredith; his sister, Carol and brother, Jim.

John leaves behind to cherish his memory, his step-son, Larry; his step-granddaughter, Amber and his brother, Paul (Kathleen).

John was employed as a locomotive engineer by the Illinois Central Railroad. John was a rail fan and he enjoyed going to rail excursions.

John’s wishes for cremation were carried out. The family will welcome friends from 11 a.m. to noon, on Tuesday, the 27th of May, followed by a celebration of life service to honor John’s memory.
