John William Allison, Sr.

April 15, 1953 — December 10, 2017


John William Allison Sr. was born April 15, 1953, in Holly, Mich. He passed away at the age of 64 on Dec. 10, 2017, at his home in Lawrence Township. John was the son of Roy and Betty (Thorne) Allison.


John loved doing work with his hands and was a construction worker by trade. He especially loved working with wood, making all kinds of trinkets. In his spare time, you would often find him playing his guitar, hunting or fishing, however his most enjoyable times were spent with his grandchildren.


As to John's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial celebration of life service to honor John's memory will take place at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, 2017, at Covey Hill Baptist Church in Gobles, Mich. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Dan Wilson will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan. On May 11, 1974, John was united in marriage to Judith Brooks and she survives along with sons, Justin (Michelle) Allison of Gobles, Mich., and John (Lisa) Allison Jr. of Shelby, Mich.; 11 grandchildren: Taylor (Nino) Hammond, Dakota (Brandon) Boyer, Kylie, Caleb, Tyler, Leah, Justin Jr., Alexis, Leah, Lily and Jacob; a great-granddaughter, Braelyn; and five siblings: Debbie (Neal) Wilburn, Evelyn Quick, Roberta Heffington, Gary Allison and Edward Allison.


John was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Roy and Don Allison; and a sister, Linda Bradshaw.
