James Richard Larson, Jr.

January 19, 1964 — October 29, 2025

James Richard Larson Jr., 61, of Lawrence passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025, at Bronson Methodist Hospital.

James was born Jan. 19, 1964, in San Jose, Calif., the son of James Sr., and Beatrice (Marks) Larson.

James was the best son, brother, and uncle anyone could ask for. His acts of service for others are too numerous to name. He was a handyman/jack of all trades. He loved being in his garage and fixing lawn mowers, bicycles, and small engines. James helped to build the Word of Life Faith Center church (Formerly Lawrence Bible Church) in Lawrence in the early 90s. If you needed him for anything, he would be there.

James is survived by his mother, Beatrice Larson; three sisters: Rose Davis, Lorene (Manny) Percigo and Patricia (Mark) Howard. He is also survived by four nieces: Angela (John) Fourn, Nicole Coulson, Joanna (Matthew) McAdams and Amanda (Vernon) Raines, and nephew, John Howard. James also had three great-nieces and three great-nephews.

The family will welcome friends from 1-2 p.m., on Monday, Nov. 3, at the Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford, where the celebration of James’ life will follow. Pastor H. Mark Howard will officiate. James will be laid to rest in Hill Cemetery, Lawrence following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the Michigan Lupus Foundation or the American Kidney Fund.
