Gertrude Mary Schlieter

Gertrude Mary Schlieter, of Lawton, formerly of Bangor, was born Jan. 8, 1930, in Bangor, one of seven children born to Bert and Christine (Larsen) Willis.

Gertrude passed away at the age of 89, Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019, at White Oaks Retirement Residence, Lawton.

On Nov. 5, 1948, Gertrude was united in marriage to Leonard James Schlieter. Leonard passed away June 20, 2015. Also preceding Gertrude in passing was a son, Richard “Rick” Schlieter; and six siblings, Leroy, Orville, John, Anna, Cora and Ruth.

Gertrude is survived by a son, Michael (Deb) Schlieter of Lawrence; a daughter, Dawn Hayes of Benton Harbor; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Elinor Dalton of Hoodsport, WA, and Lucille Willis of Bangor; and several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

As per Gertrude’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family gathering to celebrate the life of Gertrude will be held at a later date. Memorial donations in Gertrude’s name may be made to White Oaks Retirement Residence, Lawton.
