Genetta Jane McCarty

Genetta Jane McCarty, 86, of Hartford passed away Thursday, Dec. 18, 2025, at home.

Genetta was born Jan. 16, 1939, the daughter of Samuel and Myrta (Grigsby) Stow, both of whom preceded her in passing. Also preceding her in passing are her husband, Euiel on May 17, 2001; three sisters: Thelma Hindman, Donna Callahan and Novolyne Hopper and a brother, Marvin Stow.

Genetta was a beautician by trade, attending the Detroit Cosmetology School.

Genetta is survived by two daughters: Darlene Johnson and Denise (Dave) Hankins; grandchildren: Paul (Susan) Johnson, Tiffany (Dale) Shirley and Samuel (Aisha) Johnson; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Weda Bell Clay and Reba Dianne Mabus.

The family will welcome friends from 11 a.m. -noon, on Monday, Dec. 22, at the Calvary Pentecostal Church, Hartford, where the celebration of her life will commence at noon, with Pastor Bobby Helms officiating. Burial will follow in Hill Cemetery, Lawrence. The family has entrusted the Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford, with arrangements.
