Evelyn Ruth Coan

Evelyn Ruth Coan, 98, of Covert was born July 6, 1927, in New Harmony, Ind., and passed away Nov. 15, 2025, at South Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Community.

Evelyn was the daughter of Louis and Ida (Rush) Hughes.

Evelyn was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Stacie (Ray) Williams; four grandchildren: Brandie Coan, Brittanie Williams, Kelley-Ray Williams and Korrey-Ray Williams, along with sixteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Evelyn was preceded in passing by her husband, Charley; three sons: Louis, David and Dennis; her parents and a brother, Lloyd Rush.

As to Evelyn’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will welcome friends from 1-2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14, at the Hartford United Methodist Church, where a celebration of life service to honor Evelyn’s memory will follow. Pastor Doug Tipken will officiate. In lieu of flowers Evelyn would like memorials to be made to her family. The family has entrusted the Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford, with arrangements.
