Emma Comilla Gipson

Emma Comilla Gipson, 86, of Lawrence, passed away Friday, July 22, 2022, at home.

Emma was born Feb. 25, 1936, in Leighton, Ala., the daughter of John and Edith (Craig) Waldrep, both of whom precede her in passing. Also preceding her in passing are her late husband, Frank; a son, John; and ten brothers and sisters.

Emma loved her family very much, and cherished the times she spent with them.

Emma is survived by two daughters: Connie Gipson and Wanda Gipson, both of Lawrence; three grandchildren: Frankie (Karen) Scott, Patricia (Jack) Clark and Austin Gipson-Dark; two great-granddaughters: Taylor and Samantha; a great-grandson, Bentley; and a brother, David (Robbie) Waldrep.

As per Emma's wishes, cremation has taken place, and no public services have been planned. The family has entrusted the Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford, with arrangements. Those wishing to leave memorial condolences for the family may do so at http://www.calvin-leonardfh.com.
