Ellen Jeanette Moon

Ellen Jeanette Moon, at the age of 78, who lived in Hartford passed away on Sunday, Dec. 21, 2025, at her home. Ellen was born on Feb. 21, 1947, in Benton Harbor and was the daughter of Harvey and Thelma (Little) Miller, both of whom preceded her in passing. Also preceding her in passing were her husband of 42 years, Frederick "Fred" Moon on June 27, 2016; baby brother, Dale; sister, Patricia; brother, Bob; and son, Steven McNees.

Ellen is survived by her brother, Jack; brother/nephew, Tim; three daughters: Robbin Smith of Hartford, Jean (Smith) Dooley of Dowagiac, and Mable Zimmerman of Watervliet; three sons: Christopher Moon of Hartford, Kendall Moon of Arkansas, and Lonnie McCormick of Kalamazoo; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She is also survived by her companion, Gerald Grimm of Hartford, who brought the light back in her life and heart until it was time to go to the Lord.

Ellen worked as a Cashier for Harding's and retired from Walmart, and on her time off, she enjoyed sitting on the deck enjoying the sun, watching shows such as the "Heat of the Night", "Walker Texas Ranger", and dancing around the house to her favorite music. She also enjoyed going on casual drives that turned into short trips not always with a specific destination and going to her special place for peace.
