Dorothy Jean Burgh

Dorothy Jean Burgh was born Dec. 28, 1934, in Chicago, Ill. She was the daughter of Michael and Cecile (Branch) Wilson, the youngest of six siblings. She married her loving husband, Richard Burgh Sr., on Nov. 7, 1953. They were together 53 years and raised three children: Dorothy, Richard Jr., and David.

Dorothy passed away suddenly at her home in Hartford on Tuesday, July 28, 2026. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; their son, David Wayne Burgh; two sisters, Ramona Peterson and Roberta Swisher; and two brothers, Ralph Wilson and Kenneth Wilson Sr.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Lopez; her son, Richard Burgh Jr.; eight grandchildren: Tina Lopez, Sandy Lopez (Gale), Reinaldo Lopez Jr. (Mandy), Edward Lopez (Mariela), Randy Lopez, Roberto Lopez (Shawna), Daniel Lopez, and Lisa Abundez (Ricardo). She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren: Alexa (Matt), Joseph, Richard, Bobby, Kayla, Julian, Justin, Jacob, and Nathan; along with her sister, Waneta Skipper; and sister-in-law, Opal (Irma) Wilson.

The family will welcome friends from noon to 2 p.m., on Monday, Aug. 3, 2026, at the Calvin Funeral Home in Hartford. Dorothy will be placed next to her husband in Maple Hill Cemetery in Hartford. Memorial condolences for the family can be left on our website at http://www.calvin-leonardfh.com.

Dorothy was extremely proud of her Pokagon Potawatomi heritage and was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan. She enjoyed crocheting, listening to music in the park, loved her many pets, and spending time with her large family.

She will be missed dearly.
