Claude was born on Aug. 27, 1931, the son of Claude Gorman Sr. and Isabelle Mathews.
Claude passed away at the age of 87 on Dec. 26, 2018, at Rose Arbor Hospice in Oshtemo Township.
Claude served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed the outdoors, as shown by his occupation as a tree trimmer. He was formerly employed by Joe Hassel, John Pierson and for his son, Thomas. In his spare time, Claude would read his Bible faithfully, watch numerous western shows and listen to several pastors on TV; however, his most precious time was spent with his family, where he would often tell funny stories.
Claude is survived by a son, Thomas (Mary) Gorman of Hartford; a daughter, Marilyn (Mike) Breazeale of Oklahoma; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a brother, Glen Gorman of Oklahoma.
Claude was preceded in passing by his parents; a daughter, Deborah Gorman; a son, Vince McFarlin; and a sister, Mary Jo Hill.
A special thanks to the staff at Rose Arbor for their exceptional care for Claude in his final hours with us.
As per Claude’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A gathering of family and friends will commence at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019, at the Cobblestone Road apartment complex in Watervliet. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family. The family has entrusted the Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford, with arrangements. Those wishing to leave online condolences for the family may do so at http://www.calvin-leonardfh.com.
