Chad Edward Bedwell

March 13, 1974 — September 2, 2025

Chad Edward Bedwell, 51, escaped the land of the living on Sept. 2, 2025. He always loved to win any game he played, especially Euchre. Well, you won again Chad, you beat us to Jesus and reunited with your love, Deborah Gretchen Bedwell.

There is no doubt that a party took place in heaven that day as many aunts, uncles, cousins, lots of unknown ancestors and of course his parents and wife welcomed him home.

Chad was born on March 13, 1974, (believe it or not, not on Halloween) in St. Joseph to Thomas Bedwell Jr., and Christine Avery. He was born with spinal meningitis, and his parents were told to prepare his funeral service because he wouldn’t live long. Well, leave it to Chad to prove them wrong. We were all blessed to have him as long as we did. He’ll always be remembered as SpongeBob by the Redwood Family and as an avid lover of Halloween and pizza to us all! He sure was a fun loving, always joking, never boring, horror movie watching, pizza enthusiast that loved his family and his Lord Jesus.

Chad and Deborah Boggs were united in marriage on Nov. 16, 1996, with his sister, Sally, as his best man. (She’s his favorite)

He loved his three handsome sons: Martin Bedwell, Jason Hathcock and Ray Bedwell and he adored his two gorgeous daughters: Stephanie Hathcock and Katelynn Bedwell.

He didn’t mind his three siblings: Sally Bedwell-Waldrop, Karen Anders and Troy Bedwell, especially since they gave him his five nieces and nephews: Brooklyn, Alex, William, Hunter, and Thomas and a slew of great nieces and nephews too!

He spoiled his grandkids: Savannah Swearengin, Sierra Swearengin and Blair McMeeken and even more so his great grandkids: Jaxxon, Nixon, Maren and Beau.

A party to honor Chad will be at the Hartford High School Gym at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, with feasting and fellowship to follow around 2 p.m. Please wear your Super “C” shirt if you have one. If you don’t have one to wear, wear anything that has to do with SpongeBob, a superhero, a scary movie, or pizza and remember… Chad doesn’t like anyone to be late, it’s a pet peeve of his.

The Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford, has put up with us enough to help get things rolling and boy have they been patient. Big THANK YOU to them. Thoughts, prayers and love for the family may be left on their website at http://www.calvin-leonardfh.com.
