Bruce Andrew Wright

August 9, 1935 — July 4, 2017

Bruce Andrew Wright was born August 9, 1935, in Piggott, Ark., the son of Herbert Sr. and Ettie (Allman) Wright, both of whom precede him in passing. Also preceding him in passing were one grandchild and two brothers: Paul and Kenneth Wright.

Bruce passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2017, at his home in Sister Lakes, surrounded by his family.

Bruce was employed as a millwright at the Watervliet Paper Mill for thirty nine years, until it closed, and then retired from Bosch Braking Systems. He was a member of the Sister Lakes Lion's club and especially loved helping with the July 4th celebration every year. He was a member of the Midway Baptist Church and enjoyed attending Sunday evening services at the Hartford General Baptist Church. Bruce did not like to be still and would spend hours working, gardening, helping others and most importantly playing with his grandchildren. Only Bruce could make his children and grandchildren believe that work was play.

Bruce is survived by his wife of fifty six years, the former Martha Hammond, their four children: Brian Wright, Lerita (Steve) Fellows, Esther Wright and Joe (Shelly) Wright; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and seven siblings: Charles Wright, Kathleen Beaver, Shirley Tate, Franklin Wright, Elizabeth McCord, Betty (John) Madill and Herbert Wright Jr.

The family will welcome friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, July 6, at the Midway Baptist Church in Watervliet. The celebration of life service to honor Bruce's memory will commence at 10 a.m. Friday, July 7, at the church with Pastor Mark Cowell officiating. Bruce will be laid to rest in North Shore Memory Gardens, Hagar Shores. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sister Lakes Lion's Club or the Midway Baptist Church.
