Betty Sue Steenwyk

Betty Sue Steenwyk, 77, of Hartford passed away Sunday, Dec. 31, 2017, at her home.


Betty was born Sept. 14, 1940, in Tennessee, the daughter of Charlie and Gladys (Thompson) Bunn, both of whom preceded her in passing. Also preceding her in passing were a daughter, Theresa Roper; and two brothers, Joe Bunn and Charles Bunn.


Betty was employed with the Damaske Oil Company and served as an instructor for hunter safety. She was a life member of the Van Buren Sportsman's Club. In her spare time, she liked to bowl, travel in Michigan's Upper Peninsula and spend time in the outdoors camping and fishing.


Betty is survived by her loving husband, Jerry; five children: Pamela (Robbie) Trudell and David (Marcie) Roper, both of Hartford, Scott (Amy) Roper of Mattawan, Sherry (George) Westcott of New York and Leeta (Hunter) Browne of California. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and a brother, Wayne Bunn of Hartford.


The family will welcome friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at the Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford, where the service to honor her memory will commence at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, with the Rev. Mike Heflin officiating. Private burial services will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Memorial donations in Betty's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the Van Buren Sportsman's Club.
