Barbara Elyse Roush

Barbara Elyse Roush, 69 of Hartford passed away on May 1, 2025, in Ocala, Fla.

Barbara was born in Watervliet to the parents of Allen James McConnell and Tinnie McConnell on Dec. 13, 1955. She went to Hartford High School and received her diploma in May, 1983. She went on to receive her Associate in Arts from Southwestern Michigan College in 1990 and her Bachelor of Science from Western Michigan University in 1996. She worked as a nutritionist for Women, Infant, and Children, (WIC), for many years until she retired in 2014. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, reading and watching Star Trek, knitting, scrapbooking and studying God’s word.

Barbara is survived by her daughter and son-in-love: Jessica and Venkat Chitumalla, Ocala; her two sisters: Sue Hand of St Joe and Anita Bard of Bono, Ark., and her four grandchildren: Elana, Brianna, Avani and Jatin. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Katie Bailey (2012); her parents: Allen James and Tinnie McConnell and her siblings: Bobby Joe McConnell (1944), Loretta Mesik (2006), Cynthia Glenn (2008), Thomas McConnell (2014), Charles McConnell (2015) and Betty Bitely (2015).

Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 1, at Calvin Funeral Home, 8 E. Main St., Hartford. Burial will follow at Keeler Cemetery, 85537 Co Rd 687, Hartford. Roberts of Ocala Funerals and Cremations in Ocala and Calvin Funeral Home in Hartford will be handling the funeral arrangements.
