Alta Lucille Newnum

Alta was born Sept. 2, 1924, in Hartford, the daughter of Milton and Margaret (Donovan) Lee, both of whom preceded her in passing. Alta passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at Countryside Nursing and Rehabilitation Community in South Haven.

Alta was a lifetime member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hartford, where she helped with funeral lunches for many years. She was formerly employed at Adams Electronics of Bangor for 11 years and later at Auto Specialties of Hartford for 9 1/2 years, retiring in 1980.

Alta is survived by her children: James (Geraldine) Newnum of Wallace, Mich., Thomas (Joanne) Newnum of Hartford, Joyce (Tommy) Brown of Glen St. Mary, Fla., Mary (David) Knight of Hartford; 14 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

As to Alta's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hartford. Deacon Arthur Morsaw will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Alta's name may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
