Alphonse Joseph Calabrese was born on June 2, 1943 in South Haven, the son of Ralph and Irma (Simoni) Calabrese. Alphonse passed away suddenly on Sunday, August 4, 2019 at his sister Irma's home in Hartford. He was also preceded in passing by a sister, Geraldine Calabrese.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22 at The Bible Church in Hartford, where at 2 p.m. a memorial celebration of life service will be held to honor Alphonse's memory. As to Alphonse's wishes, cremation has taken place. Pastor Benjamin Williamson will officiate. The Calvin Funeral Home in Hartford is helping the family with arrangements. Alphonse was a self employed carpenter, who did construction work in California for over 40 years. His passion for woodworking was his calling, especially for making cabinets and he was very good at what he did.
Alphonse leaves behind to cherish his memory, a son, Andrew Calabrese of California; three sisters, Irma Gregory of Hartford, Carmela Harris of North Carolina, Jeanette Newell of South Haven; a brother, Genaro Calabrese of California; several nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
