Darold Nutting

Darold Nutting was born in Section 29, Bangor Township, on July 2, 1929, the son of William and Elva (Born) Nutting. He passed on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018, at the age of 88, at home on the family farm where he was born. Darold lived his entire life farming, and he thoroughly enjoyed driving tractor. His favorite tractors were red, but sometimes green or orange would do in a pinch. In the 1970s, he was published in the Michigan Farmer magazine as one of the most diversified farmers in Michigan. Darold grew many varieties of fruits and vegetables as well as grains and livestock all on the family farm which is now a sesquicentennial farm.

Darold had a passion for cars or anything with an engine, he was a used car dealer for over 60 years, owner of D.K. Nutting Sales and Service.

Darold was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Eileen (Kass) Nutting; of which they have four surviving children: Jacqueline (Duane) Lerdal, Lon (Deborah) Nutting, Linda (David) Poland and William (Kristy) Nutting; 13 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Darold had two sisters Daliene (Nutting) Everhart and Dayla (Nutting) Mackinder. He is also survived by Ruth (Rowlison) Nutting, his wife whom he married in 1990; and her children, Timothy (Janice) Rowlison, Rebecca Rowlison; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife Eileen, he was also preceded in death by grandson, Andrew Droski, and his brother, Dwight Nutting.

The family will welcome friends from 2-3 p.m. followed by a celebration of life at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018, at Calvin Funeral Home. The family will have a private burial at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hartford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Van Buren County Youth Fair, P.O. Box 271, Hartford, MI 49057.
