C. A. Adams, 78, of Hartford passed away Thursday, July 18, 2013, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Saint Joseph.

C. A. was born March 15, 1935, in Tomball, Texas, the son of Chester and Gertrude Adams, both of whom preceded him in passing.

C. A. was one of the construction workers who built the launching pad at Cape Canaveral, Fla., for the Apolo Space program when Neal Armstrong and his crew were sent to the moon. He also worked at the Cook Nuclear Plant in Bridgman. He had a heart of gold and, as the expression goes, he would give his shirt off his back to anyone.

C. A. married the former Carolyn Louise Slabaugh and she survives, along with his six children: Sandra (Frederick) Jacko, Carolyn Fitzpatrick, Charles (Bonnie) Adams, Terri (Roger) Morse, Paul Adams and Minor (Robin) Adams. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Thomas (Eveline) Whidden and Sidney Adams; and a sister, Eloise Fischer.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial celebration will be held at a later date. The family has entrusted the Calvin Funeral Home in Hartford with the arrangements. Those wishing to leave memorial condolences for the family can leave them on our web site at
